30 – Motionless

Sincerity is a lonely little lie I toss about inside my 8-bit mind

Sheepish at my freakishly uninhibited and duplicitous consciousness

No conscience, just revelry and disbelief

At the way others behave

While I play pretend with the sirens in my head

Am I a soft-spoken, heart-broken, reticent believer

No, I am a loose affiliation of thoughts and regrets and

Five tumultuous kinds of stillness

Each one more aggressively motionless than the last

You see – I’ll let you in on a secret – lean in close

Or better yet, pull back your ear and forget
